------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- IIPNZ: Investors in People New ZealandTop-to-toe check on what really counts - - Article from Dairy Exporter Magazine - September 2009. "..Dairy Holdings (DHL) has put its people management under the microscope to see if it measures up to international best practice... Colin Glass said .."We know there's a very strong link between people management and how well our farms perform....we've found that the people who pay attention to how they manage their employees, the people who are good communicators, also run the farms that really fire.. .. Through the process the company aimed to independently verify that its employment practices were top rate and find out where improvements were necessary.. .. "We've done it despite the current economic environment because we don't think human resources (HR) is an area where you can take short cuts," he [Colin Glass] said."People are a fundamental part of our business - even more fundamental than dairy cows are to our operations.".. ..Twelve "indicators" or topics are assessed under the four broad categories of farm planning, training and development, managing people and compliance. The farm planning category, for instance, checks to ensure the farm has a clear set of objectives and targets and a plan for how they will be achieved. It also looks to see that all team members have had a chance to contribute to the development of the plan. It checks to ensure there is a culture where people are encouraged to share ideas through regular meetings or briefings and that the manager can give examples of how they encouraged people to take ownership and responsibility for decisions.. ..Even if they have met the standard for a particular area in their people management, we talk through practical ways they can improve further..” To read the full article click here.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- TestimonialsJon & Jo Carswell - Southland "We have been with Dairy Holdings Ltd since they started in 2001. With the help and support of the Dairy Holdings team of owners and supervisors we have been able to move through from managing 610 cows in the 2001/2002 season to 1100 cows in 02/03, 03/04 and 04/05 to supervising 6 farms in Southland 05/06, converting for Dairy Holdings, a 400 cow farm and sharemilking this farm in the 06/07 season, and we remain in that sharemilking position for the 07/08 and 08/09 seasons. Within the 07/08 season we have been able to purchase our own farm to convert for the 08/09 season. None of this would have been possible if not for the support of the Dairy Holdings team. We look forward to what the future brings us and Dairy Holdings Ltd as a partnership in farming." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Situations VacantCareer Opportunities 1.
